DISTRIBUTION

I will try and distribute my documentary as much as I can throughout the pre-production process. In order to create a buzz for my FMP I will set up a page on each of my social media sites and share this around on different groups that I think will find my project interesting, so they can keep up to date with what I am doing. I hope to contact people with film blogs to advertise and write about my work. I will distribute these social media pages around and also attach them in my emails and ask different organisations to share them around to create a buzz around my idea. After posting a survey about Handsworth on different Handsworth community social media pages and gaining a lot of enthusiasm and results, I feel as though these pages will help me greatly in order to market my documentary to people who will actually have a genuine interest in this topic. The man who set up this facebook group contacted me and was very interested in what I was doing. He them said he will be willing to promote my documentary on this group. This will create a buzz around my documentary in the Handsworth area.

Realistically I feel as though my documentary will gain more interest if it was broadcasted on TV so I will be contacting broadcasting companies such as channel 4 and try to get it commissioned. I have a strong feeling that it will attract more people if it was to play on TV or screen it at an event that I set up myself as opposed to playing on the big screen in a cinema. This being said I will be entering it in a number of film festivals that are suited towards the themes and issues that it undertakes. Here are some of the film festivals that I have been looking at

AUDIENCE
I believe that my film will target all genders as the film is about community and accepting people no matter what, it will appeal to people who live in Handsworth as it will explore the history of the place they are living in today. This will also attract people who love to learn about history. Although Hector is popular amongst children, it will not be aimed at them as it deals with difficult themes such as racism, riots and violence. I feel as though I have a guaranteed audience with Hector’s family and the people that know Hector through his work.
I hope that my film reaches numerous audiences as my film is not just about Handsworth, my film carries universal themes that everyone can relate regardless of where you live. I believe that many people know who Hector is but, they know nothing about the things he has does. I want to showcase this through looking exclusively at his archive and finding out about who he is.
